Just heard him in the Union Square subway station in NYC. I choked up at his clear and loud high tenor- wow, what incongruity- Irreverent travelers and healing sounds... NYC at it's coolest. Amen!

For a school project I was assigned to look up videos of "griots" on youtube..crazy assignment, but I'm so glad I got it because I would have never listened to this remarkable music without it.

Actually, the sound has evolved tremendously in the last several decades due largely in part to the advent of using fishing line instead of gut strings. The instrument is able to stay in tune much better now. Also, the influence of the modern generation of kora masters has progressed this music tremendously. Abaraka baki, djeliba~

I-laful! To think my ancestors were playing this beautiful music, hundreds of years ago, and I am just discovering it! I am so proud that despite being torn from my roots through slavery, I have come full circle to fulljoy!!

This is beautiful. I wish more music was like this and not like the nonsensical bs that makes the airwaves today... Again, very beautiful...
