youre right they sound beautiful. if you havent seen one already check out hammered dulcimer, they sound very similar to the kora but more european.

Just heard him in the Union Square subway station in NYC. I choked up at his clear and loud high tenor- wow, what incongruity- Irreverent travelers and healing sounds... NYC at it's coolest. Amen!

For a school project I was assigned to look up videos of "griots" on youtube..crazy assignment, but I'm so glad I got it because I would have never listened to this remarkable music without it.

Actually, the sound has evolved tremendously in the last several decades due largely in part to the advent of using fishing line instead of gut strings. The instrument is able to stay in tune much better now. Also, the influence of the modern generation of kora masters has progressed this music tremendously. Abaraka baki, djeliba~
